How to do if the ultrasonic horn(sonotrode) is overheat when in working

Ultrasonic plastic welding machine will have a certain heating phenomenon when it is working, which is caused by the loss of mechanical energy of the material itself and the heat conduction of ultrasonic parts. Whether the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode heating is normal or not, the criterion is that when there is no load (that is not touching the workpiece), the ultrasonic wave should be continuously emitted for more than half an hour, and the temperature should not exceed 50-60°C. If it's overheat, it proves that the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode is damaged or the material is not qualified.need replace new one.

　Material is the key factor that causes ultrasonic horn/sonotrode heating. Our company adopts magnesium-aluminum alloy 7075-T651. Modified aluminum material belongs to aviation aluminum material. It has fine texture, high yield strength, strong and difficult to use, has good sound wave transmission characteristics, and has very little ultrasonic transmission loss. It is an excellent material of  ultrasonic horn/sonotrode 

　　 If you use an aluminum alloy material that does not meet the specifications, there will be serious losses in the ultrasonic transmission process, and these losses will eventually become heat energy. Once the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode  is hot, it will cause the frequency to decrease, and severely damage the ultrasonic equipment;

　　 If the material of ultrasonic horn/sonotrode you use is steel alloy, poor heat treatment processing is also one of the reasons for the severe heating of the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode ;

　　 Of course if your ultrasonic horn/sonotrode structure design is unreasonable, it will also cause serious heat;

　　 In shortly, when the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode is found to be very hot, it is necessary to determine whether it is caused by the ultrasonic horn/sonotrode  itself or due to poor installation, such as loose mold, screw cracks, or dirty contact surfaces. It is also necessary to determine whether the heat is caused by the damage of the transducer or the horn, and the heat is transferred from the heat. When you are sure that the fault is, the problem will be solved, and you can't use it reluctantly.
